San Antonio Corinthians Women played Gallos Blancos Houston F.C. on Saturday, January 10 at San Antonio Corinthians Soccer Complex. Both teams play in the National Soccer League US. The women’s league is slowly emerging state by state, having started in Florida. This season is the first official season in Texas.

The Corinthians opened up scoring in the 11th minute and proceeded to dominate from there. For the Corinthians, Gabriela Valdez finished the night with four goals, Melissa Dones scored two, and Julianna Pacheco scored one from a set piece outside the penalty area. Gallos Blancos scored a header placing the ball low and wide, just outside of the Corinthians goalkeeper Raeann Garcia’s reach in the 89th minute. Libby Welker secured the Corinthians midfield, seemingly to be everywhere on the field and anticipating passes.

The final score was 7-1 in favor of the Corinthians. The Corinthians record is 3-2 and Gallos Blancos is 0-6. The Corinthians currently sit third in their division. They have played two less games than Houstonians F.C. who sit atop the table.
