NPSL Quick 3 + 1

Tulsa Athletic 0 - 0 Sunflower State SC

I picked this match as one to watch, with big implications for the Heartland Division. While both teams had plenty of chances, neither were able to break the deadlock in the match. Tulsa hit the post three times in the match and had eight shots on target in the match. None crossed the line and the homeside managed a single point against the hard-charging visiting side. By splitting the points, however, Tulsa stays in the division’s top spot.

This week Sunflower State will face Demize NPSL in a midweek match, while Tulsa will host OKC 1889 FC.

Alexandria Reds 3 - 0 First State

It was a family affair in Alexandria as brothers Tobi and Seni Joseph both scored against First State FC to cement the win. Both goals would come early in the second half and Tobi picked up the assist on Seni’s goal. Daniel Ankrah would score the third goal for the Alexandria Reds in the match. The win for Alexandria helps them keep pace in the Mid Atlantic Division, where they currently sit second behind Northern Virginia United. The Reds will face last-place Grove Soccer United this weekend.

Minneapolis City 2 - 1 Duluth FC

This matchup was a chance for revenge for Minneapolis City who had dropped the first leg of this rivalry matchup. Duluth FC came into this weekend undefeated and looked to continue their dominant season with another big win against the 1-3-1 Crows. But the homeside would prevail with a pair of early goals in each half, the first from Loïc Mesanvi and the second from Luca Contestabile. Duluth would get a late consolation goal from Peter Oyetunji, but it wouldn’t be enough change the result.

Duluth now sits second in the division and will face Joy St. Louis Park next. MPLS City will host visiting Minnesota Twin Stars. Both matches take place on the 8th, a Wednesday.

This Weekend

Sacramento Gold go on the road this weekend to take on Academica SC. Sacramento currently has a stranglehold on the Golden Gate Division, while Academica sits 4th in the standings. This match should feature the current Golden Boot leader, Manolo Pina, who has 11 goals in 7 matches. Should be a fun one!
