Player Profile: Ana Silva
So let's start at the beginning, how did you get into soccer originally?
My dad played soccer growing up, and he also coaches. I'm pretty sure he had me playing as soon as I was old enough to kick a ball.
Play any other sports growing up?
I tried basketball all throughout middle school and into my freshmen year, but soccer was always my main focus.
You got involved with CFC's youth program the year it was founded. What was that experience like? And how has the program contributed to your development?
I think overall, it was a pretty positive experience. I had the opportunity to play under some good coaches. I remember when I first started, thinking it was so cool to travel with my teammates and play the sport we all loved. Many of us went on to play with each other over the next several years. I developed lasting friendships.
Are you a CFC men's follower as well?
Of course! My family and I go to as many games as we can.
It's the returning year for the CFC women's team. Does your history around the club create more pressure?
I would be lying if I said no. I think because I've grown up admiring these players, and always dreaming about being in their shoes (well, cleats) the pressure is on to be the best I can be.
What position do you primarily play and who would you compare your game to?
My main position has been right back. I think I would compare my play to that of Crystal Dunn because she can adapt to just about any position. She's quick, and can defend and attack.
You're a USWNT fan. Who's your favorite player and why?
My favorite player is actually Crystal Dunn. I personally think she's "underrated". She stands out in every game, and is one of the hardest workers on the pitch.
What's your pregame hype music?
My pregame hype music is anything rap!
How did you pick your number?
My dad is a big Man City fan. One of his favorite players was David Silva. When I was younger, my dad would joke with us and tell me & my sister he was our uncle. Ever since then, I always picked 21.
8 matches is a short season. Predictions on your club's finish?
Well, this being a relaunch, it will be somewhat difficult to tell. . However, I feel after each game and learning each other's style of play, I definitely think we will grow as a team and be successful!
Thoughts on the Red Wolves/Chattanooga FC rivalry?
Ummm Who are the Red Wolves?? :) I bet they don't have the AWESOME Chattahooligans on their side!!
Chips Ahoy: Crunchy or Softbaked?
Crunchy all the way!
