Protagonist Picks 'Em - December 29th - January 1st

The outdoor leagues are either over for the season or taking a break this week, so your favorite Protagonist contributors have decided to get totally stuck into indoor soccer! This week we take a look at a handful of games from MASL and a couple from Major League Indoor Soccer too, as their season is just getting underway. Let’s take a look and get stuck in!

  • Josh Duder Picks…

    • Omaha Kings vs Colorado Bucks - MLIS

      • Fri, 12/29 & Sat 12/30 (Double-Header Weekend)
at Off the Wall Indoor Soccer in La Vista, NE

      • The Omaha Kings have started off the MLIS season strong, with two wins from two and now have a little bit of a homestand to extend their lead in the table. They host the Colorado Bucks, who have just the one game played so far, a loss, to none other than Omaha - for them, its a chance to exact revenge.

  • Jon Hunt Picks…

    • Baltimore Blast vs Harrisburg Heat - MASL

      • Fri, 12/29 - 4:35p PT / 7:35p ET
at TU Arena in Towson, MD

      • The battle of the two cellar dwellers in the east could make a very exciting matchup as both teams pair up nicely. The Heat will be looking for their first win of the season, while the Blast will be looking to try to climb back up into the middle of the pack in the East.

  • Josh Duder Picks…

    • Texas Outlaws vs MKW Wave - MASL

      • Sat, 12/30 - 5:05p PT / 8:05p ET
at Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, TX

      • Second in the Western Conference, the Texas Outlaws are set to host Milwaukee Wave and try to extend a little winning streak they have going on. But after knocking off the Dallas Sidekicks on the road last night, the Wave have their own run of wins, also at two games, and hope to make it three.

  • Dan Vaughn Picks…

    • San Diego Sockers vs Tacoma Stars - MASL

      • Sat, 12/30 - 7:05p PT / 10:05p ET
at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, CA

      • San Diego kicked off its season with dominating wins over Tacoma (11-6 & 9-6). Will that run continue or will Tacoma find a way to get one back against the best team in the West?

  • Dan Vaughn Picks…

    • St Louis Ambush vs Kansas City Comets - MASL

      • Sun, 12/31 - 12:05p PT / 3:05p ET
at Family Arena in St Charles, MO

      • KC needs wins in both of its matches, home and away, against Ambush this week to keep pace with the top clubs in the East. Looking for Zach Reget to shine against the team that gave him his start in MASL.
*They won 6-4 at home after this was originally written - Reget got his goal in the 4th quarter but John Sosa was outstanding with a hattrick and an assist.

  • Josh Duder Picks…

    • Utica City FC vs Harrisburg Heat - MASL

      • Sun, 12/31 - 12:05p PT / 3:05p ET
at Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, NY

      • First place Utica FC host Harrisburg Heat who have yet to win a game and have allowed 37 goals against. 30 of those goals have come from Utica City themselves, as these two sides have already faced off three times since the season began! They only have to play twice more after this; maybe Harrisburg can put their losing streak to a halt and rinse their palate of Utica for a month.

      • * Check out this week’s Under the Lights about Utica City FC

  • Josh Duder Picks…

    • Ohio Extreme vs Rapid City FC - MLIS

      • Sun, 12/31 2p PT / 5p ET
at SoccerZone Arena in Jenison, MI

      • The other game in MLIS this weekend is between two teams who have not kicked off their season yet - Ohio Extreme play host to Rapid City FC. The MLIS table looks to be based on winning percentage first, so if either should win, that would take them to at least second on the table. If Omaha were to drop either of their games, the winner here could go top? Still lots to learn about how the table functions in this league!
