There is a special club friendly in Detroit and a pair of semifinals in the EPSL. We take a look at the Metroplex Premier League as well as the Midwest Premier League. So let’s all get stuck into some good soccer this weekend!
Josh Duder Picks…
One Knox SC vs Greenville Triumph SC - USL League One
Sat, 06/22 - 4pm PT / 7pm ET
at Regal Soccer Stadium
Forward Madison made this really spicy by beating Los Buhos on Thursday night - now Greenville, who are top of the table, have to put in a shift, away, to a really stingy One Knox SC, just to keep one step ahead. One Knox have only allowed 7 goals in league play, that’s tied for second lowest but they have only scored 10 goals all season as well, which may be problematic while squaring up with one of the league’s highest scoring teams. They haven’t yet played each other this season, and One Knox gets the home field advantage in this first meeting - it should be a banger.
Dan Vaughn Picks…
Detroit City FC vs Pumas UNAM - Club Friendly
Sat, 06/22 - 4:00pm PT / 7:00pm ET
at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, MIThis weekend will mark the 9th international friendly hosted by Detroit City and this one is a fun one with Liga MX giant Pumas coming to town. DCFC has used these matches to make connections with new fans and this one is sure to contribute to the growth of Le Rouge.

Ben Brannigan Picks…
Warriors United FC vs Colombia Academy - Metroplex Prem 2
Sat, 06/22 - 3:00pm PT / 6:00pm ET
at Gateway Park E.1st Street in Ft Worth, TXTwo names for readers, Warriors United and Colombia Academy, which I never managed to get away to season and for that, I apologize. After a little quick research, I see they both fared decently in MPL2 and both played themselves into the playoffs, which start next week. Warriors have made it via 2nd place and Colombia made it at the end of rankings. This could be an eye opening game and a preview for playoffs next week in MPL 2.
John Howard-Fusco Picks…
Sete Setembro vs NoVa - EPSL, Semi-final
Sat, 06/22 - 4:00pm PT / 7:00pm ET
at Lancaster Bible College, Lancaster PAIt says here that NY Greek Americans and Nova FC are most likely going to be the final pairing on Sunday. The Metropolitain and Mid-Atlantic representatives will be huge favorites in their matches. Will this year be one where a club from the Delaware River or Northeast conference breaks through?
Rich Schenck Picks…
AFC Columbia vs St Louis Stars FC - Midwest Premier League
Sat, 06/22 - 8:00pm CT / 9:00pm ET
at Martin Owens Stadium-Columbia CollegeThese COMO lads are on fire, winning their last three, keeping the Gateway wide open as Cedar Rapids Inferno sit in first with 13 points, looking over their shoulder at a three point gap to AFCC, STL, AND Ajax St. Louis after five games played. Stars are 1-1-1 since 5/31 and will be all too willing to keep the table in “squeaky bum” mode until the final week.
Dan Vaughn Picks…
Detroit City FC vs Kalamazoo FC - USL W League
Sat, 06/22 - 1:00pm PT / 4:00pm ET
at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, MIDetroit City is really hitting its stride in the W League this season and the rest of the league is taking notice. Undefeated and cruising towards the playoffs, this match will take place in front of a supercharged Keyworth, as its part of a doubleheader with the men’s side. I think DCFC rolls, because that’s all they’ve done this season!
Josh Duder Picks…
Spokane Velocity vs Lexington SC - USL League One
Sun, 06/23 - 6:00pm PT / 9:00pm ET
at One Spokane Stadium in Spokane, WALexington had everyone convinced they were poised to run the table this season - they had frontloaded their roster with a ton of talent. Somewhere between then and now, they found themselves second-bottom in the league and even when they are headed off to play an “expansion team,” they are not the favorites. Spokane Velocity have done very well for themselves, so far, and if they play the game their way, in front of their crowd, they can work their way even higher in the playoff places.
Rich Schenck Picks…
Lansing Common vs Ft Wayne 1927 SC - Midwest Premier League
Sun, 06/22 - 1:00pm PT / 4:00pm ET
at Fort Wayne Sport ClubA disheartening 2-0 home loss on June 7th was the last thing the Robins needed as they spend the next three weeks away at 1927, home vs NIFC and 1927 again at home July 7th. Anything less than 2 wins would more than likely spell the end of any trophy hopes for one of the winningest clubs in the league. The reigning Great Lakes Champs know a thing or two about what it takes to get the job done and will look to keep pace with the Travelers.
