Catching up on Score Lines

Every week, the results defy logic. FTL was on a 3-match winning streak heading into this one, while Lexington had won a single match all season. While Lexington had consistently found ways to lose matches, it seemed like Ft. Lauderdale was rolling. Of course that mean that Lexington went into Florida and got a 2-1 win. Shout out to Addie McCain, who added another goal to her league-leading total (6) in the loss. Madison Parsons moved into second place in the golden boot race with a brace in her club’s win.

Ashlyn Serepca had a day for Carolina! Facing Brooklyn for the second time in the same week, Ascent looked in charge from the start. The entire team was on the front foot the entire match and Serepca had a couple of BEAUTIFUL goals to clinch the 2-0 win. The win cemented Carolina’s grip on first place in the league and they looked on point.

The midweek match took place last night between Brooklyn and Tampa Bay. Tampa went on the road and after Sydny Nasello scored her first goal of the season, they must have thought everything would be fine. The goal was a nice bit of second chance work by Nesello, beating Martinez after her first attempt was blocked by a defender. But Brooklyne would come back for two in the first half, including a late penalty. The call would come in extra time, when Sun’s Edmonds bumped Scheriff in the box (I’d say it was a soft call, but whatever). Garziano stepped to the spot and converted for her third goal of the season. That was enough for Brooklyn to get the big home win and pocket 3 points to stay in second place.

The Table

Not much change in the table, regardless of some interesting results. Carolina is sitting pretty with 16 points and did what it had to do against Brooklyn to hold on to the top spot. Brooklyn is in second and just 2 points short, making that loss to Ascent all the more painful. Fort Lauderdale has to be frustrated giving up points against Lexington and is back with the pack from 3-6, all within 2 points of each other. Someone needs to decide they want to win some matches!

This Weekend is Packed

So many great matches this weekend and a full slate of them!

The best of the bunch this weekend is probably Brooklyn vs Ft Lauderdale. Battle between 2nd and 3rd on the table is going to be a good one. Brooklyn is playing well and FTL will be looking to get back to their winning ways. The other top tier match of the weekend is Dallas hosting front-running Carolina. Trinity will have some gaps because of international callups, but I still think this match will be a good one!
