Tampa Bay Sun Ink Three Professionals
There’s plenty of buzz around this year’s launch of the USL Super League and the volume just got turned up.
Tampa Bay Sun FC announced the first three signings for the club today. Erika Tymrak, Jordyn Listro and Dominque “Domi” Richardson are the first three rostered players for the USL Super League club. All three have extensive experience in the sport and should bring veteran presence to the teams inaugural lineup. Interestingly, for the soccer warz fans, all three have cut their teeth professionally in the NWSL and could signal some future roster interchange between the two women’s leagues.
Of the three, Erika Tymrak brings the biggest headlines. The former NWSL Rookie of the Year (2013) helped won the NWSL Championship in 2014 and 2015. She’s had an extensive playing career in the other top tier women’s soccer league, racking up almost 200 appearances in the NWSL. Now she’ll bring that veteran experience to a brand new team hoping to establish itself in a league with similar goals.
In the press release announcing the signings, club president Christina Unkel was nothing but optimistic about the future of the club and league. “Women’s professional sports are having their tipping point moment. Tampa Bay Sun FC is strategically positioned to step into this moment and demonstrate that every sector of society rises when you invest in women. We are proud of how we are building the foundational cornerstones of this Club and look forward to announcing our key inaugural corporate members who understand the power of women's sports.”
