Under the Lights: Gala FC (Cascadia Premier League)
When was your club founded, by whom, and what is the mission?
2013 as a youth club. We focus especially on low income and minority players but all players are welcome. We work really hard to make it affordable and we wont refuse someone due to finances. We will always make it work. We focus on player development. I founded the club. My name is Daghan Kesim also known as Dagi in the community (they cant say my name correctly, haha) I wanted make my kids proud as single dad of two.
Tell us about your badge and colors – what inspired the choice, or did it just fall into place?
Lion is definitely my favorite and my family was from Eskisehir in Turkey and that's their soccer team's colors. I designed the logo.
What league do you play in? Why did you choose that league?
Cascadia Premier League top division. Where I coached and won the league undefeated season with Snohomish Steelheads. It is time to make even bigger impact because I believe in Gala's mission and we are raising money to support the kids with our semi pro team. We do have USL aspirations. We chose this league as I believe in the league and people like president Mitch and Nido partner Begad Anwar.
Do you sell merch or have plans to?
We sell scarfs, decals, shirts etc… some on sale on our website but mainly at the games.
How did you finish last season? How do you plan on improving for next year?
We finished on the top of second division. Time to make our youth players proud at the top division. We will focus on fighting football, never give up attitude. Rest will come sooner or later.
If there were one or two teams, within 100 miles of you, to play a friendly against – who would you play and why?
We want Ballard. Some of my former players play there and they play good football. Or Timbers u23 their head coach Shanon Murray is one of my first mentors and a class act.
If I may add I am super proud of the new women's team and the leadership that helps me there. Thank you Amber Elliano, Bratt Sutton, Jeff adams. They deserve the credit.
