Under the Lights: Park City Red Wolves (USL League 2)
Tell us about the Park City Red Wolves - when was the club founded and what is its mission?
We were founded in 2018 as a USL2 team. Our mission is to be a feeder club to our parent club, Chattanooga Red Wolves, in USL1. Since our founding, we have also added an academy program with several teams. The mission of our academy is to identify and develop players to join our USL2 side, and ultimately progress to our USL1 side in Chattanooga to have first-team careers.
Currently you play in USL League 2 - Are players allowed to move up to the USL League One Red Wolves during a season? Is it a loan move or considered an interleague transfer?
Yes. We are able to send players up to our USL1 side whenever needed. Generally, we will send players on a trial base or a short-term 25-day loan.
Which teams within your conference offer the biggest challenge? Who do you look forward most to playing?
The great thing about the mountain division in USL2 is that every team is talented and competitive. There is no easy match. Because of this high level of competition, it makes our division great. We look forward to playing Salt City SC the most as they are a local rival.
When the season is over, or before it begins, does the club schedule matches with clubs outside the league? If so, who have you played? If not, what clubs would you like to have a friendly with?
In the preseason we schedule Colorado Mesa University every year to help get us ready for the start of our USL2 season. We have also played other local clubs or universities in friendlies. Our Academy sides have played many other academy clubs inside of the USL umbrella. Besides that, we have played other sides including the Real Salt Lake academy. A friendly we would love to schedule in the future would be with Real Salt Lake's first team.
How did you finish last season? How do you plan on improving for next year?
Last season we finished our season as USL2 Mountain Division Champions. Thus qualifying for the USL2 playoffs where we fell short. This season it is our goal to retain our mountain division championship and again qualify for the playoffs. We want to make a deeper run in the playoffs and US Open Cup.
Do you sell merchandise specific to the Park City squad? How can locals or interested folks help support the team?
