UPSL Match to Watch

Orange County FC 2 - 0 LAFC Academy

Orange County did was no one else had managed to do all season, beat LAFC Academy. While both clubs brought impressive records into Saturday’s matchup, it was OCFC that walked away with three points. The 2-0 win moves Orange County FC into the top spot of the SoCal Premier North, but LAFC has a match in hand, so could take it back with another win (which wouldn’t be a massive surprise, given how talented this club is). In fact, just last month the UPSL announced that LAFC Academy player, Nathan Ordaz, signed a homegrown contract with LAFC. According to the press release, “Nathan registered 12 goals and six assists in just 14 matches for the LAFC Academy, earning the team a spot in the UPSL Western Region Championship, where he led LAFC to a fourth place national finish in Feb. 2022.”

This Weekend’s Match to Watch

One of the best aspects of the UPSL is just how wide-spread the league is. Every corner of the country is blanketed by the league and this week’s matchup is from the Pacific Northwest Conference. St. John’s FC will host Deportivo Rose City. St. John’s has been on a dominant run so far this season, undefeated and winning every match so far, scoring 24 goals in 5 matches, while giving up only 4. For Deportivo Rose City’s part, the season has been up and down, with an even number of wins and losses (3-0-3). No time like the present to win a big one!
