NISA Match Preview

Chicago House travel to Matthews, North Carolina to take on Stumptown Athletic Club with both teams looking for their first points of the season.

House players and coaches will need to be goldfish and forget about their heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Detroit City last weekend. House performed admirably and should be proud of the shift they put in, but points are what matter at the end of the day.

There were too many sloppy plays committed by NISA’s newest member, including two penalties given away in the first half. The final goal came from a corner kick and off the foot of Detroit City defender Anthony Manning in the 87th minute.

Now, House looks to take on Stumptown, who fell to Chattanooga FC 3-1 in their opening match. Stumptown did take the early lead on a Luis Garcia goal in the 19th minute. The midfielder took advantage of some sloppy Chattanooga defending and powered the ball into the upper netting.

But Stumptown capitulated in the second half, allowing all three Chattanooga goals from the 77th minute on. Just like Chicago House, Stumptown went into the latter stages of the second half thinking they could get something out of their match. Instead, just like Chicago House, Stumptown came away with nothing.

NISA soccer is unpredictable, but one thing is for certain: at least one of these teams will come away with points on Saturday night.
