Danielle's Best 11 of the Super League First Half
This USL Super League Fall Best 11 was selected based on overall performances for the whole season. It was a difficult task, but I subjectively made my choices. There were a few injuries, coaching changes, and national team call-ups that didn’t allow me to get a clear picture of their body of work. There have been changes in the January/winter trade window with moves, additions, and subtractions that I expect will cause a shift in this starting lineup to happen at the end of the spring season. These are the players to watch in this upcoming remainder of the season and have proven the caliber of competition they are.
One, Edmonds, of my picks has chosen to retire and the league will miss her terribly. One, Meza, has played so well that her parent club called her back from the loan, she was a maestro on the field. One bench player has switched to a new team, which is a coup for both her and the new team.
GK: Meagan McClelland - Carolina Ascent - only GK to maintain position all season tells you enough. She's not sharing
DEF - Kristen Edmonds - Tampa Bay Sun - leads team in interceptions, tackles, and duels. We are sad to see her leave
DEF - Vicky Bruce - Carolina Ascent - 24 interceptions, 17 tackles
DEF - Amber Brooks - Dallas Trinity - leader, goals, creates attacking phases, free kick taker. Is she playing the 6? Listed as a defender, but we don’t care. Scores goals, takes set pieces and destroys attackers.
DEF - Hannah Davison- Dallas Trinity - leads the team in defensive stats. Cool as ice
MF - McKenzie Pluck - Brooklyn - leads team in assists and chances created, unsung hero.
MF - Carlee Giammona - Tampa Bay Sun - leads team in goals and shots, second in chances created. Love to see what she will do next.
MF - Sam Meza - Dallas Trinity - the Maestro. Not surprised her loan was called back, she’s magic.
FW - Maddie Parsons - Lexington SC - key for Lexington, skilled up top, scoring goals.
FW - Addie McCain - Fort Lauderdale United - Golden Boot leader, key piece of the attack and my MVP nomination
FW - McKenzie George - Brooklyn - engine for the team, does everything,so hard to shut down.
Coach: Jessica Silva - Brooklyn - she came in to the league from day 1 she created buy in from the players and a cohesive style of play that utilizes the strengths of the whole team.
Bench: Jorian Baucom - DC, Grabias - BKLY, Mia Corbin - Car, Emina Ekic - Spok, Sydney Nasello - TB, Cecilie Floe Nielsen - TB, Chioma Ubogagu - Dal, Ishata Hamid - FTL
