Introducing League Two The 2how’s POWER 20

Welcome to the first ever USL League Two The 2how POWER 20 - where we take a mostly scientific approach to determining the top 20 clubs in the league. Considering that there are 113 teams across 16 divisions within 4 conferences - trying to rank all of them would be madness. However, that there is a first place team and second place team in every division gives us at least 32 top performers on a weekly basis from which to determine the most successful 20 sides in the league - which we’ll call the POWER 20.

Of course, weeks 1 and 2 have been a bit of a bugaboo because not all clubs within each division have played and not all divisions within the conferences have begun. So this first ever POWER 20 will be reflective of the teams who have been active so far and not casting dispersions upon any clubs in particular who have not had a chance to perform.

The way the POWER 20 is determined is by an aggregate points total at the end of the week - this can be precarious because, with so many matches all week long, the markers of a matchweek can be confusing. Fortunately the league has done a swell job of listing all of the matches for the week and determined that Sunday, seemingly, is the end of each respective week.

The points which are aggregated by clubs are referred to as Power Points and come from a handful of categories; first place in their division is worth 2 points, while second place is worth 1. Having a positive goal differential is a point, but for every extra 5 goals to that differential, an additional point is awarded. There is a point earned for each clean sheet and if a team has a 2.0 points per game average, or better, they are also given 1 point. Lastly, each of the hosts of League Two The 2how get to hand out a point to who they believe is the top team in the league - meaning that each week there are 3 Power Points available based on favoritism rather than merit. But hey… we’re just here to entertain you!
