NVUFC and Dundee United Ink Partnership

Today, Northern Virginia United FC, who play in both the NPSL and UPSL, announced a new partnership with Scottish Premiership club Dundee United FC. The impacts of the agreement could prove massive for the Virginia-based club as both “clubs will share development, operational and talent ID processes.”

As part of the agreement, NVUFC will rebrand to align with the Dundee crest. That will include the “famous tangerine color and logo brand assets.”

In the joint press release, Dundee United FC Sporting Director, Tony Ashgar, highlighted the possibilities for the agreement. “This is an exciting partnership that will benefit our club with shared learning and cultural concepts alongside the opportunity to open other networks and opportunities for the club.” That feeling was mutual from NVUFC’s Brian Welsh. “We are a progressive and innovative club but we can learn a lot from the staff at Dundee United.”

Without a doubt this sort of partnership would be a big win for any lower league American club as it connects the clubs in both real and intrinsic ways. The sharing of knowledge, talent, and processes will only be beneficial for both clubs. The agreement also elevates the American side by lending the history and prestige of the Scottish side. It’s a win on two fronts. Well done by North Virginia United!
