Protagonist Picks 'Em - December 1st - 4th

We’ve hit the sweet spot of the Fall/Winter season in our US Soccer Leagues - with USL Super League right around halfway through, UPSL playoffs deciding who heads off to their National Finals, and the Indoor Season kicking off this weekend. Let’s take a look at a few of the games our writers and friends say you should check out.

  • Josh Duder Picks…

    • KC Comets vs St Louis Ambush in MASL, Regular Season

      • Sun, 12/01 - 3:05pm PT / 6:05pm ET
at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, MO

      • Major Arena Soccer League kicked off its regular season on Friday, November 29th when the Kansas City Comets visited in-state rivals St Louis Ambush and put up a ton of goals in an 8-3 victory. Leonardo Acosta was unplayable, with 2 goals and 2 assists. It wasn’t like St Louis weren’t trying; Julio Varela scored twice for Ambush and as a team they outshot the visitors 24 to 19. However, Phillip Ejimadu was imperious in the box for KC, with 15 saves on the night.

These two teams do it all over again tonight but this time on the blue turf of the Cable Dahmer Arena. Expect a show from KC’s Lucas Sousa and Lesia Thetsane this game but don’t count out Lucas Almeida from making his impact or StL too. • John Howard-Fusco AND Dan Vaughn Pick…

    • Ft Lauderdale United vs Dallas Trinity in USL Super League, Regular Season

      • Sun, 12/01 - 4:30pm PT / 7:30pm ET
at Beyond Bancard Field in Davie, FL

      • JOHN: The only game going this weekend in the Super League, with two clubs that have games in hand on the rest. But that’s where the similarities end. Dallas is on a 7-game unbeaten streak, while FTL is looking for their first win since beating Brooklyn FC 1-0 back on October 6th. Since that win, FTL has been outscored 8-3, including a 1-0 loss to Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on November 2nd.

      • DAN: Dallas is trying to push for the top spot in the league and needs three low hanging points in Ft Lauderdale. It’s an easy win on paper, but reality usually looks a lot different.

  • Michael Battista Picks…

    • Southern Indiana FC vs in UPSL, Playoffs

      • Sun, 12/01 - 2:00pm PT / 5:00pm ET
at Green Valley Elementary School in New Albany, IN

      • The KY-TN Conference Final comes down to the top two teams from the regular season. SIFC is currently undefeated in the Fall 2024 season, recently qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open Cup, and has former professional Dylan Mares in the squad. Meanwhile the reserve side for USL League One’s One Knoxville SC has had a successful debut season in the UPSL and will be looking to avenge a 3-0 defeat suffered in their home opener against Indiana.

  • Ben Brannigan Picks…

    • Sporting NTX vs Foro SC in UPSL, Playoffs

      • Wed, 12/04 - 8:00pm CT / 9:00pm ET
at Prince of Peace HS Carrollton, Texas

      • Battle of the Big guns of North Texas Soccer right now. Two teams that have been dominant this season in league play and came through playoffs unscathed too win convincing wins in semis too. The winners here will have bragging rights in North Texas Soccer circles and get to represent the region also. Two great teams and two teams full of confidence and free scoring too. Lots of local talent on display too. This will be a must watch game in DFW on Wednesday next , get along you will not be disappointed.
